Trio's Better!!

On Tuesday (since Monday was MLK and a holiday) Trio went back to school and stayed all day. He was fever free on Thursday of last week so I sent him on Friday *but* they sent him home because he wasn't acting like himself and he had a wet cough. At the time I was pretty upset because I had just fallen asleep and I didn't want to end up in court for truancy. Ultimately I mean I understand why they did it but I was pretty steamed since I was all "It's seriously only been 15 minutes that he has been at school!" When I picked him up though I did see what they meant. He wasn't himself.

But now he seems to be adjusting again which is great. I mean I am over the moon that my soon is better and no longer has a fever because it was scary. This is the longest since year one that he has been sick and also pretty much the first time and I was like Okay what do we do? It gets stuck in this cycle of:

he has a fever--give him medicine--but now he's not fever free without medicine so he can't go to school tomorrow--feeling better in the middle of the day looking good--fever again at night that requires medicine--CRAP!!

So when he was fine with no fever but a wet cough on Friday I just gave him Wal-green's grand Mucinex (because I honestly see no difference between Wal-Green's brand and the high price stuff aside from one is not going to hurt me in the pocket book as much) and he has been right as rain since. Which makes me very happy. ^_^ Especially since his birthday is around the corner and who wants to be sick on their birthday? NO ONE!!

And on that note I will certainly post again about that because it is an imporant one...he's turning 5!!! o.0

Trio's Got the Fever!!

Almost a week later and Trio is still kind of sick. And by kind of I mean that his fever is still coming and going, he is coughing, and is home again for the second day in a row.

This sucks.

Not so much because he's home because I love my time with my boy. It's just I can't get this fever to go away and it is this vicious cycle because he can't go to school until he is fever free for 24 hours. But he can't get fever free without medicine especially when it reaches the "magic" number of 100.1 and since I don't want his brains to bake I have to give him the good stuff. So he may be out for a full week. Which means I have to call the school to make sure this whole abscence counts as one so I don't get truancy put on me and sent to court. :/

Such a horrible, horrible cycle. :(

The good news is it is not that flu. (Which, by the way can I interject, the way they check for flu SUCKS!!?? A big ol' cotton swab up both nostrils are you serious? I would much prefer blood being drawn that is one and done. Not sticking up one side and while he is grabbling with that sticking it up the other one. I was thinking that would make *me* want to punch someone I can only imagine what Trio felt like when his nurse did that.) Anyways it is just a good old fashioned cold and cough. So yay...I guess. I mentioned on my Facebook it is the dingy grey lining because it sure as hell ain't silver.

Otherthan that his attitude is still the same when he's not laying down because his fever is hitting him. In fact I have to get him to lay down so he can get better sooner. We shall see how this plays out. Until next time stay healthy and don't forget to wash your hands!!!

First Sick Day

Well we reached our a milestone today: our first get sent home sick day. I got the call from the nurse around noon that he wlhad a fever and was waiting there to come home. So of course I hauled button there (as much as you can in the rain without skidding out) and arrived at the school to find him splayed out on the coat in the nurse's office with ice packs all over him (because he wouldn't drink water). You could tell he was feeling miserable because he was laying still, he didn't jump up to greet me with a happy "Mommy!!" and he wouldn't sing to his songs on the way home. :( It was very sad all around.

So he came home and got some medcine along with some water (because you know I made him) and into his jammies. Then he bundled into his YaYa's bed (my sister) and watched Tarzan until I made him take a nap. And nap he did. Woke up all sweaty on his back and his fever had gone done. I gave him some more medicine to be sure (since he is giong to have to take tomorrow off anyways) and then since then he has acted heaps better. He is walking around talking wanting to play Wii, which I turned down until at least tomorrow LOL (my little gaming nerd). So we went through it well enough. Honestly, I'm surprised it took him a whole semeters before he was sent home sick. He hadn't been around kids constantly until school and yet all last year he was fine. So while I was sad he was sick, I'm happy it took as long as it did for it to happen. Now he's doing okay -- he is haning around his Daddy wanting to play on his phone. And if that doesn't say he's feeling better... well I don't know what would. ^_^

New Year, Same Trio

So here is a new year and once again it has been awhile since I blogged LOL. Of course, this is a new year with new resolutions and hopefully one of them will be to write more, whether it is actual stories or blogging. And since we are only a day into the new year I'm going to try to start off right.

Trio had a good Christmas as usual. He go t his first bike which he loved because it was Buzz Lightyear and his first bike. He also got a V-tech laptop from KaCee and those were pretty much his "big" gifts. He got a few other things as well such as more Mobi games, cars (lots and lots of cars) socks, clothes, and made from love stuffed monsters. The only thing about Christmas with kids is you have to purge first or after which we still need to do. Just need to find out where to throw all the old stuff like as Nica's old vanities, kitchens, etc. Also his birthday is just around the corner so we defintely need to make more room. Oh well...such is the life of a parent.

In other news his dentist appointment oh so many moons ago went weel. He had a lot of work done but the dentist told us that it looked like he had a a predisposition to having bad teeth so I didn't feel too terrible. But pretty much all of his teeth got caps and two got pulled :( But he is fine now and it is just a matter of keeping up to date on his dental health. He kind of looks like the Bond villian with the silver in his mouth. And he has bitten me once (a little accidentially) and that hurt so woe to the first kid who he bites at school.

School is going great. He is loving it and he is talking more and more each day. Recognizing some words I think which is a big shock to me. He has always been good with letters, numbers, and shapes but now we are also looking at words and starting to know what they are if he sees them regularly.

He is also a dancing fool. There have been many videos of him dancing to the Michael Jackson experience and if you start a song he will start dancing along with it. It is adorable and also makes me want to get him into some kind of dance class to put that enerrgy to good use plus if he wants to dance he can. He can dance if he wants to...he can leave his friends behind. ;)

And that is it for now. More later on the wonderful boy that is mine.
